Frequently Asked Questions
How can you help?
I can help by working with you in an individual way. This means offering the type, frequency and duration of the psychotherapy or counselling that suits you.
I'm here to help facilitate your self-empowerment and self-development through self trust.
How long does a session last?
Most sessions are for 50 minutes. Couples counselling sessions are longer - 75 minutes.
Your punctuality means we can make the most use of the time available.
How long does the counselling arrangement continue for?
Counselling can be long term or short term - depending upon you.
We may begin with an agreement to meet for 6 sessions to establish what is known as a "therapeutic alliance" and see how we progress. After that time, you'd decide upon the benefits of continuing counselling or not.
We have on-going reviews to discuss how our work is progressing at any point.
How much does it cost?
I offer a sliding scale depending upon your ability to pay. However, usually my fees are £55 for individuals and £75 for couples.
Payment is due for all sessions, aside for planned breaks. See cancellation policy below.
Cancellations and re-scheduling
In order for me to plan my diary, advance notice is required regarding any changes to our scheduled appointments. No charge is incurred if we can re-schedule a session during the same week. However, if this is not possible the full fee is payable. This does not apply to scheduled changes or planned holiday arrangements.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes, aside from exceptional circumstances regarding your safety or the safety of others; when the circle of confidentiality may be widened, to include your GP, for your protection. Usually, we would discuss this together.
I'm a registered practitioner and abide by BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
Where does it take place?
I work from home in Ottershaw and also have practices in Weybridge and Kingston-upon-Thames.
